Elizabeth, I'm glad others get ideas into the brain like me, at least I'm not alone with out-of-the-box thinking. I applied the pine cone parts on the edge, and set it aside for a few days. Well, finally decided I didn't like it. I removed that idea, and then hand carved a frame to look like wood sticks. I went with that.
I attached some imitation leather to the edge of the mare and foul scrolled work with upholstery tacks. Here are pictures of the final framed pieces.
Each can be placed in a stand or hung on a wall.
