Hi Kevin. You have skill and an eye for proportion. What you are hunting for is an increased level of contrast between light and dark to give the illusion of depth to the form, a three dimensional quality if you will. Your current drawings lack that. To start with, imagine a dominate light source from only one direction. Where the light hits the object do a little erasing. Where you think a shadow should be darkened, then really darken that area. Additionally, think of the object like looking at a ball. The front of the ball is always the lightest. Each side of the ball is darker next to the background. Look at your forms and seriously darken the edges next to the blank background. You will see what I mean. Hope this helps.
