ink wash
I was thinking of making a collection of different ones like these. This is my second time with the ink and Chinese
ushes.

I really like the
ush strokes and the fact that you put white paint behind the ink instead of just leaving it purely the white canvas...its very subtle but adds to the piece. The only thing I would change would be putting your name on the back. Since it is very minimal, your signature takes away from and almost competes with the actual art work. I say make more!!! :)

Ok cool, my name is actually psed on there. It is much lower right now and I was playing around w the positioning of it. I kinda liked it there cause it covers up that little spot where I stopped the
ush and it created a little puddle of wash before I lifted it off.

I am not proficient in the use of Chinese Brush
and Ink, I'm afraid. Forgive me if I'm missing something.
I would like to see a little more happening besides a slash
and a few squiggles...

yeah I know, but what do you see beyond that. I have had several different things that people have told me they see in it and what it reminds them of.

It can remind me of animals running through
a forest.
Different people will tell you what it reminds
them of, but are they saying it's an exciting picture?
I know one thing I'm saying, and that is, I see a
line of black squiggles in the middle of a beige wash
on a cream canvas.
What exactly are you trying to say?
In my own personal opinion, it's an unexciting work.
Constructively speaking, I would add more movement
to your lines and visit other parts of that canvas instead
of 'staying put' with one line across the middle.

PS, and you're not the first - try writing that nice
signature on the back of your piece - it detracts from
the subject.

Your welcome Marshall. I 'd like to say that I don't
want to talk down to you , I just want to help. If you
have seen my work (check the thread 'Camerashy, I
have new photos) in Ready for the Fury, you might
have a thing or two to say about my stuff!
I hope you'll give us an update on your Chinese

ush effort.

I agree with ehoeveler on this one. Detail and color is the name of the came.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

my 0.02 cents!

i like it. i agree with the two comments regarding placing the siggy on the back.

as for minimalist abstract, i think you scored here!

did i miss the dimensions? i feel that the larger it is, the more appealing i find it. lets say it was about 4 or 5 feet long; i could totally see it hanging above my couch in a simple 1" black frame.

you mentioned that diff ppl see diff things, to me, i see a cityscape.

IMO color would detract from the feeling i get from it. tho, if you do add color, or make another similar to this with color, plz post. would love to see it both ways just out of curiosity!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks is nice and final. That's what I saw too, a big urban centre, with skyscrapers. Erika
