Good Morning!

Postby Michael Ortega » Tue Dec 22, 2009 9:16 am

Well let's see then. I really had to stare at this for a long while and give it some thought.
There are three things that speak to me about this painting.

1. The lower teeth seem to stick out and run all the way past the corner of the mouth. This is probobly just the lower lip repeating the design pattern of the actual teeth.
2. The microphione almost appears to be behind the figure.
3. The front part of the figures hair does not have the same detail as the back part making it seem as if he has a blob of paint on top of his head.

remember when working from a photo...the camera is prone to distortions of the lens and focus anomalies. So don't be a slave to the photo. Always use your human eye and common sense, as these two things are much more sophisticated that any machine or contraption!

I still love this peice!

Meili, very nice, I love the sepia tone. My only criticism has to do with cele
ity/famous people portraits in general: they're good for practice but for higher achievement your OWN interpretation is needed. You did a super job in that department with your Dalai Lama.

Sorry I missed this one Meili!

I think you did a great job on the rendition, like this alot!
I do agree though that your Dahli portrait showed a bit more creativity.
But, I still think this one was well done!
Keep them coming! :D

Lennon

Postby ehoeveler » Sat Jan 16, 2010 1:31 am

It is nice to see a Lennon portrait that actually looks like him, for a change. I like the sepia-retro tone, as well.
