Re: Opinions for a friend

I'm finding it hard to believe that this person has been painting for such a short time. I agree that something is amiss in the first one. The head doesn't quite look like a cat's head. And yet the painting itself is still incredibly well done. Beautiful. Tell him that we don't know him so we aren't...

I like this, John. There's an elegant simplicity to it.

Re: The blue sea-views

I like your style, Ms White. Especially that second one. I see that they are done on paper. What medium are you working in?

Re: Two Stages Of The Same Painting

Carl, thanks for taking the time to answer. Yes, the site is huge and it's easy to get lost in it. I'm sure the big names do fine there but that's because they are, well...big names. People go to the site, specifically, to look at and buy their work. No one is looking for a painting by Joe Bucemi so...

Re: Two Stages Of The Same Painting

Carl, now that you've mentioned Fine Art America, I'd like to ask a question. When I placed my Otter painting to be sold as a print, at Saatchi , I used the default price. The print will cost the customer 90 dollars and I will get 27 of that. Okay, fine. But at Fine Art, I don't know how much to pri...

Re: Two Stages Of The Same Painting

Yes, it lost some of that power with the tightness, didn't it? It's funny, I've been wanting to paint with that loose style, and when I finally did it without the help of another artists work, I ruined it! Lol!!

Re: Two Stages Of The Same Painting

Quite a coincidence that you should mention that. I just put two paintings on Saatchi Arts today and was going to do F.A.A. tomorrow. What do you think of the work? The good thin is, I've taken good pictures of both. So I can still offer the one without the ship as a print. I don't think it's too bad.

Two Stages Of The Same Painting

So there I was having a hard time deciding on my next painting. I was working on something, but was hating it. I get my pallet knife and some blue paint and start covering up the work like Jack The Ripper. I'm slashing blue and then green and adding some white here, some yellow there. I don't even k...

Re: Newest Work...Surfs Up!

Made some changes and tried to take a better picture. Still pretty blue. Gonna leave it and move on to the next, though.

Re: Newest Work...Surfs Up!

Hi Carl. Good afternoon! Wasn't expecting a comment soon.
Well, the camera darkened the image a bit, but yes, there's lots of blue. I added a tinge of red to the clouds but probably not enough. Maybe the wave needs a bit more green. At least those are issues that are fixable.

Re: White Mare with Fillie

JN, I can see that you work with horses, from your avatar, so my advice would be to study them a bit. Go out to where they are corraled and take your drawing pad and pencil. Don't start drawing too quickly. Study the animal for a while. Hell, for an hour if you have to. I say this because I believe ...

Re: Newest Painting...Dolphins

Glad you like it, Carl. I came very close to overworking this. I was going to add more detail on the ocean floor and even one more Dolphin. But I finally said, "Okay, drop the brush and step away from the easel and nobody gets hurt!" I need to tell that to myself sometimes And, thanks, I t...

Newest Painting...Dolphins

Thought I'd give everyone's favorite undersea mammal a try. This was a very enjoyable piece of work and it was quite a challenge to get that Dolphin smile just right. They are a lot of fun to paint and I think I'll be doing more of them.

Re: Hms Invincible

Like this! Nicely done. She went down at The Battle Of Jutland, I believe, with almost her entire crew. Makes me want to do a ship painting.

What a difference a frame makes

I bought a cheap frame at a Goodwill store for three dollars. I pulled out the picture that was inside and gave the frame a quick refinishing. A light sanding and and then I stained it. I slipped my seascape painting in there. It's basically just leaning up against the painting at the moment, and ye...
