Re: Art & Photography Website

You are a kind and gentle person. Your husband is a very lucky man. How you can make a watercolor look like an oil painting is extraordinary. I enjoyed looking at your website.

Re: The Walker

Good evening Elizabeth. I recognized your work the instant I saw it. I just love the organicity of this controlled chaos painting. I find it a bit scary but extremely well done.

Re: Grand Canyon VI

Good morning. There are three posts in this update. I think I remember saying once that size changes the composition by requiring more detail in the larger sizes. I think that was a mistake to make that level of generalization. I am finding that in this one the reverse is true. Have to think about t...

Re: The Bride

Nice painting Rich. Heads up. I would not put varnish over acrylic. Anywhere from one week to one month crack lines will appear. It is my experience that you can put acrylic on oil painting but you cannot put any oil based paint or varnish on acrylic. I suggest you use a satin or high gloss finish c...

Re: Still trying to save this

Well, this is a very nice painting Joseph. I think you got all your elements right, including saving one of your straggly bushes. Extending the water surface to the bottom of the paper and placing the boat in a canted manner gives the painting the point of interest it needed. Nice job.

Re: "The Sanctuary"

Thanks and you are welcome. As to the animal planet results. It has not been done yet. It takes a very LLLLLLLOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time for any results for any contest on this site. I don't know why and I am not going to speculate.

Re: "The Sanctuary"

Good morning Joseph. Thanks for your response. You made me laugh at myself and change my mind. That and the fact that frequently my wife will insist that I rework or change a section of a painting that I consider and then decide to leave it my way to which she will tell me, 'well, you are the artist...

Re: Grand Canyon VI

Good morning. I think I have solved some of the problems I was experiencing with transferring the drawing to the larger canvas for this painting. The problems of the need to change the size and shapes of some of the forms within the smaller drawing to the larger drawing was solved in the prior paint...

Re: Composition Question...

Good evening Joseph. The bushes on the left destroy the balance in the painting. Cut them down and remove the cut down limbs from the painting. Your wife is correct.

Re: Transferring Complex Line Drawing to Canvas

Good morning. Fineartamerica.com actually gives you a choice of several types of canvas from inexpensive to museum quality at the higher price end range. You can visit the site and look at an artist's painting and play around with the right side of the page that lists canvases, prints, etc. If you w...
