I really love the way the hands are larger, it gives a sense of him pushing himself up with all his might! cool background ! the hole with the blast of light is awesome! Can't wait to see the added color ! Love it !

Re: Lotus

Thank you Carl! I did get your suggestions for "Just a Splash". I plan on working on it again, but I just had to get away from it for a while. Has that ever happened to you?

Re: Lotus

I have now used white gouache paint ( very wet) and painted a thin coat over the plants and the Lillie pads. Let that dry and then mixed a large amount of very wet white gouache, loading the brush and then adding a quick dip of blue gouache at the tip of the brush and ran it thought the pastel penci...

I plan to add more layers of color or a certain effect. I use the matting to help keep my proportions
right.

"Lotus"

Still working on pieces for the May 2016 show. I started out with my drawing. I then did most of the water with pastel pencils, making sure that there were many streaks of color going through the water. I like to keep a matting around the picture taking it off and putting it back on for some reason ...

Re: "Just A Splash"

Hello everyone, I have begun with a really watered down light blue for the sky, because I am not really sure which way I am going to go with it. I have begun the the two rocks that are shooting out of the water. I have lined the spraying water with a thin line of blue and green so I don't confuse th...

Re: Charcoal drawings-how to keep smudge free?

Hello Kevin, Believe it or not I have used "Interfold Bakery paper" for years ! it is a dry lightweight dry wax paper! Dixie makes it and you get 1000 sheets in a box ! There are different sizes. I just tape it on the area I am working on . I really like it because It also helps keeping my...

Re: Sky

LOL! The other sky is still there E. I was trying to take the photo so you could see more of the added color of the white cloud. It made
the picture look darker than it really is. I will also try the suggestion around the buildings as well.

Sky

Hello, this painting is my attempt to imitate "Sir Carl's" skies. :|
The entire first layer of color for the painting was done with pastels then an overlay of acrylics.
