Rusty Monkey? Yep...I am just saying that the content of a piece of visual art is better described by the viewer than the artist.

I can see your a...

That is pricisly the point with all visual art/perception. Unlike the musical art that is so mathmatical, there is a structural path. In other words, with music, it is easier to direct the listener thru the piece than with visual arts, it depends more on the viewers perspective. If any one is intere...

Good work, I particularly like "follow me" I enjoy the movement in the composition, more than the florals, but the florals have another soothing feeling all together.

If You are like me..you do art as a therapy..and ultimately ,you want to share yourself in some sort of non-traditional way with others...a way that feels very comfortable to you.. I have no real commercial aspirations for art....I do it because I can speak with it...without an audience..that is ho...

good responses

This is really interesting...Been gone for several days. I was afraid it would totally fizzle out...Question .."Do the responses say as much about the viewer as it does about the artist?"
Would some one else put one up?please?

That good two comments, one emotional and one observance of the technical and void of emotion....I would want to know about the use of symbolism, maybe? It's kind of hard to spur this on and not give too much. It fair to make something up...

What Do You Really See

The premise to this, is simple, everyone gives a gut reaction not a critique of style or technique. The artist needs to keep that in mind. [/u]

Is it the medium?

There has been a lot said about what is wrong with the world. There is a lot of frustration evident in this thread. My theory about that level of frustration isn't so much from the lack of socio-politically motivated "artwork", but the less that effective mediums that we are interested in....

Re: Good Art

William, you make an excellent point about self critique. As a matter of fact, in my opinion you have all made excellent points about good art. I am wowed by by the level of thought evident by this group. Does anyone feel the way I do about the standard convention of our training, formal or not, th...

Blocked!!

Sometimes thinking gets in the way of creativity. When I am looking into a blank canvas, straining for an idea, I will just start painting.....with absolutely no goal in mind. and before I know it, ..........I toss the piece of s*** out and find something to paint. Sorry

I think what you are describing is apathy, and a sense of helplessness and or hopelessness. I hope I'm wrong on the last two points. Be well. Bruce Bruce, you have hit the nail on the head APATHY Our society is sooooo apathetic, or maybe desensitized. Every day we see wars and death and disaster, b...

You can feel the anquish

You did a great job of conveying the pain and anquish with out even showing the subjects face. I see that female figure in the shower as a perging of emotion. Very strong almost an intrusion. Am I reading it right?

Cool ....

I really like the effect with the cartoon imagery. What do you mean by "smooth"? Are you wanting to find a look that is different from your other work. You are developing a style that is identifiable. If I were to make a suggestion, perhaps it would be to define the contrast. Make that rob...
