thanks everyone for responding to this post. To answer some of the questions, no this is not part of a series. This is the only painting of a cake that I have done. As far as the reflection under the plate, there actually is one, but it is hard to make out in this photo becuase it is so subtle. You ...

It actually only took about two and a half weeks to do, which is much shorter than I thought it would based on its size. I wish the photo was a little better...art is pretty difficult to photograph, but this one in particular is very tough to capture. Anway, thanks again!

be careful with your line. Nothing in real life has an outline so the second you draw one in, your drawing will not look realistic.

self portrait done as a Trompe l'œil

This is a pencil drawing. This isn't a photo of torn paper, it is a drawing of torn paper. I just finished this today and am super happy with it. Let me know what you all think.

hey, no worries about the doubting thing, this is a forum and you are supposed to ask those kinds of questions. My name is Greg by the way, and yeah, the paintings behind me are mine as well. I have two other portraits on the Ready for the fury forum if you have some time to check them out.

You can actually see the texture of the canvas and ush strokes in real life, this is just a pretty large painting, and th...
