Lynne Wright - Inspired by CreationArticle ID: 57Written by: rhknigh Written on: Thu May 23, 2013 7:32 pm Article Description: Lynne Wright tells us a little about her art life and shares a few of her works here.
Lynne Wright of Luray, Kansas, United States paints mainly in a representational style with a hint of impressionism using oil and watercolor.
How long have you considered yourself an artist? Basically self-taught, sketching and painting have been my lifelong passion. Tell me about how you started out painting: I received a set of oil paints as a gift from my new husband the first Christmas we were married. Since that time I've employed the method of "learning by doing" as well as gleaning knowledge of technique and composition from a rich library of written art instruction. Watercolor has become another favorite of mine. After a severe back injury several years ago, I was unable to stand at my easel. I owned a set of watercolors, but was almost afraid to initiate them, having heard how unforgiving they could be. As boredom set in, I began to realize the worst that could happen would be the loss of some time and watercolor paper. Upon reaching this conclusion I began a painting, interrupting the process every few minutes to study page after page of the instructional books that previously had been sitting around collecting dust. Since then it's remained an odyssey of learning by trial and error. What things inspire you to create art? Having lived much of my life on the Pacific Coast, I spent countless hours studying the moods of the sea and the constant mesmerizing movement of the water. Since moving to the Midwest, I've come to deeply appreciate the creation of rural landscapes and other gifts of nature. I find joy in translating both of these worlds onto canvas. The unequaled beauty of God's creation has been my main inspiration. Tell me about influences, if any: Among my favorite artists would be Paul Moon, Gordon MacKenzie, and the late Sharon Rickert and Stephen Lyman. What exposure have you had? I have displayed in and sold from several galleries throughout the country. I also enjoy teaching and sharing the fun of creating an original piece of art.
