"Run Baby Run"

by jgdavis
The anticipation of what is going to happen next; the horse has heard the command of the rider....he obeys, the tension in his muscles as he slams to a stop; The rider has complete trust in his horse and is dismounting. The young calf has both his ears back and is aware that something is happening.....but oh, the in next second ! My reference photo by Nicole Emmanuel.

Thank you Carl, I loved painting this one too. I love action, tension etc . Went to our annual rodeo this weekend, was fun, didn't get any good shots worthy of painting tho. I will try again next year

Voted my 5. Problem fixed. Now reasons. Good color harmony through out. Action forms placement creates a balance between small and large. The color varied amorphous background separated by the ground plane dust assists the illusion of solid action. The equal horizontal and vertical size gives proper authority to the action as it gives direct focus into the center of the painting. Just a great painting.

No Carl I don't have photoshop, I use Picasa to crop my photos. I would like to have a photoshop program though, what would you recommend.

I've written to Joe and sent another cropped photo so he can replace for me. TKS :)

Hi. I do not use ASC programs for any of my entries for the same reasons. Do you use Photoshop?
by jgdavis on Feb 17, 2015 at 10:30 PM
I have tried to crop it, I have spent ages trying to do it. So I am giving up now. The ASC program to crop doesn't want to save the new cropped image. Tells me I have to clear my browser...cannot see how to do this?

Excellent painting. The action makes it feel very alive. However, to be a contender you need to fix the cropping problems on the lower right and left corners. In Photoshop, and I assume similar programs, simply smudge the areas horizontally pushing out to the edge. Not voting my 5 until you fix this presentation problem. P.S. I love seeing your work in color. No problems here.
