Salem, Massachusetts February of 1692 - May 1693, 19 persons, most of them women, where hanged because they were found guilty of practicing sorcery. These “witches” went through a sequence of trials, interviews and torture until they confessed out of fear. During the trials It was a popular belief that witches had the “Devil’s Mark”, which could be any mole, scar, spot or birthmark.

During the inquisition Heinrich Kramer wrote a treatise on the prosecution of witches “Malleus Maleficarum” (1487) also know

My honest question is have you actually sold any of these terrible photos of freckles, birthmarks and scars. I totally understand the premise, as you repeat yourself in each and every post well. I get that all of these people could possible have been persecuted if such outlandish laws were still in place in this day and age. Maybe some homeless veterans would peak my interest more than people that will never know persecution for a scar or birthmark.
