Saline River Valley

by Lynne of Luray
This painting is of a scene located several miles south of where we live in north central Kansas. The area is alive with bright hues of limestone, as seen in the bluffs and outcroppings of rock. The vegetation was especially green from recent rains, and the late afternoon sun emphasized the brilliant colors.
Medium: oil on canvas

Thanks Elizabeth. It's amazing what a little much needed rain can do for the countryside!!

Thank you, Gary. I'm fascinated by the beauty of this part of Kansas, especially considering the state is ordinarily known for its flatness and reputation as "fly-over" country.
