This painting reminds me an own aunt who died with 101. At her 100th birthday, she had many relatives there, also the mayor, journalists and a lot of other people. Many flowers. Good food. But she looked like a bit sad, like your cousin, because all her friends were dead and she told us that her life had been enough.

Thank you CarlOwen for taking the time to write and vote- much appreciated! Ethel was my 4th cousin, she sadly passed away later that year, but she lived to a ripe old age! She never got to see this painting, sadly.

What an honor to have a (I suspect a great-grandmother) who is 110 years old and to have the ability to paint her portrait. This is marvelous, exhibiting exquisite technical skill and just plain out and out artistic perception. With your permission I could email you her picture in the kind of frame I make. Of course my 5 vote.
