Thanks Calr and ehoeveler; I am new on this site and trying my way around. Am a bit computer challenged but will get to know your and your works soon!

Elizabeth. I copied this picture into my pictures file. I was able to look at it in a larger format. The small picture presented here does not do it justice. When looking at it in a larger frame I see what you mean. I concede, I think you are right. And, to artist, I simply love this painting.

I will respectfully disagree with Carl re: the hair. I do see softness towards the right side but for me, that's OK. What I really do like about the hair is that deep indigo/black underneath and throughout - I think it fits well with the overall flavor of this portrait and adds depth. I also like the broad washes of dark in her hair which make a nice counterbalance to the shorter strokes and smaller areas of color in her face.

I really like this. A portrait that is clearly not a photograph. Something about the hair that vexes me. Will get back when I figure it out. It looks like you rushed to finish, or over blended, or something.

This is a 5 of course, and have rated it so. The hair is a bit distracting to me because of the faded softness. Your self portrait claims its own space but needs the firm resolve expressed in your look to be present throughout the painting. i.e. the soft shoulder on your back side and the already mentioned hair. I love the power of your eyes. You have seen much more than a person should. P.S. I intend to study this one with the aim to improve my own portraits. Thank you for posting.

I like this style of coloring and even more, the absolute honesty of her (your) maturity. Everything good about this. Thank You, E
