February Sunrise on the Rio Grande

by CarlOwen
There is a canyon pass on the Rio Grande river between Santa Fe and Taos, NM running north and south. It entertains white water rafting events, usually in the summer. But in the winter there is often spectacular sky shows at sunrise. This is my painted record of one of them.
Medium: Oil on canvas

Another update. What fun, this painting won a finalist award in the Fusion Art competition, 2nd Annual 2nd Landscapes (January 2017).

Until I read your comment I had just assumed it was a brush painting. Your right this image has a lot of texture in sky portion that make the clouds stand out. Great Job.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that this is a pallet knife painting. It seems to me that the pallet knife would bring about more drama and texture than a brush would have.
