Wow! Simply lovely!! You're giving the great Raphael Soyer a good run for the money in great portraiture. Awesome!!

Yes, colored pencil is most certainly a test of patience! And you have done an excellent job here. I have a blender but haven't made much use of it yet. And I've read of the use of solvents for blending colored pencil, but haven't tried that either. I have only, like you, slowly added layer upon layer to get the desired effect.

Thank you Carl, Terri & Charlene! Your comments are very encouraging. To answer Charlene, I used a Colored Pencil Blender after a few layers & in the background only but wasn't getting the results I wanted so I scrapped the blender & continued laying down more and more layers of colors. You've got to go light-handed so as not to build up too quickly - as I'm sure you know Charlene there is only so much tooth in the paper to hold only so much color which is most certainly a test of patience!

This is very well done! Just curious, as I too use colored pencil: did you apply a solvent at any point in creating this portrait?

Hey Sis! So proud of you! You are so gifted as a beautiful artist!

Good evening. I have not abandoned you, just had to make the vote I felt most fitted the category of light and dark. If you keep up this kind of work I do not think you will experience many disappointments.

A warm and loving tribute to this little girl. She looks beautiful in and out. Agree with Carl - you got skillz - this looks like a painting. Thank You, E
