Sanja Festival. Asakusa, Tokyo 2007.

Sanja Festival is the wildest traditional of Tokyo. It takes place every May, attracting hundreds of thousands to participate, drink and watch the parade of men dressed in traditional costumes carrying the "mikoshi" (portable shrines) through the streets of ancient Asakusa.
In recent years, however, we see more and more women also carrying the mikoshi - A role that used to be exclusively for men.
