"The Kelp Forest" was painted using acrylic paints on A3 paper.
I wanted to somewhat stylize the painting, by adding enhanced shadows and highlights to both the kelp and the seal using white acrylic paint. I believe that this has created a lot of depth to the painting, highlighting the idea that the kelp forest is dark, remote and mysterious.
The seal, which has been painted as though it is swimming towards the viewer, creates a sense of solitude within the painting.
