The Dressing Room

by Lee Harvey Roswell
The Dressing Room, Lee Harvey Roswell 2007.

Group portrait of Chicago's Silent Theater Company and Lee Harvey Roswell in the basement dressing room of San Francisco's historic vaudevillian venue, the Victoria Theater, from the Stills are Still Moving series.

This painting incorporates a classic bit of slapstick, sticking bodies into spaces they scarcely fit and then adding action, that goes back to Buster Keaton's "Cameraman", and was later adopted by the Marx Brothers in their "Night at the Opera".
Medium: oil on canvas
Size: 24x30"
Price: sold

It's a very interesting painting, I will say that, but... I'm still trying to figure out why this is in the "Fall Colors" contest. Where is there anything of "fall" in this?

great job on this painting. I can feel myself right in the scuffle.
