Carl is a frequent contributor, here, and he and I have commented on each others works. He likes to paint with a pallet knife and I started becoming interested in the technique.
I've been wanting to try my hand at it for some time. I watched some tutorials on you tube and said, "Okay, it's time to try this."
Here's my first attempt. It's a terrific way to paint and I will be pursuing this further. I really enjoyed it. It works perfectly with my style. I like the way the colors stay truer, because you aren't constantly trying to clean your brush. I never seem to clean them well enough and often get muddy colors.
Also, it's just perfect for working out side. No water or solvents to take with you. I use the colors right out of the tube and then a quick wipe with a rag and you are ready with the next hue. Wonderful. And you can work very quickly because you aren't constantly cleaning off you brushes. This is only two and a half hours worth of work. Might have gone faster with a better knife. I used a cheap plastic pallet knife that came with some brushes that I bought.
Anyway, keep in mind that this was just an experiment and not meant to be a polished piece of art. I recommend, to every painter, that you need to try this if you haven't as yet.
Thanks for looking.
