Scarlet macaws

Postby beautifulbay » Fri Dec 21, 2007 6:16 pm

I finally finished my latest tonight....a pair of scarlet macaws. I had put them aside for a little while, but got back at them tonight, and I think I'm happy with them. Colored pencils on Bristol board 9x12 ~ What do ya think?

I think it,s very good. It has good color and detail. And they look like the bird I have. Don,t know what kind it is. But it,s got all those colors. I call him or her the bird.

It's a beautiful drawing of the macaws. Very well done. Are they yours?

Thank you Laura, John and Erika. Nope, no macaws here at the moment....

John, you have a macaw??? If he's colored like this he could be a scarlet, or a greenwinged macaw....green wingeds are slightly smaller in size and have a row of green feathers between the blue and yellow ones...or he could be a mixed hy
id. I love macaws, do you have a pic of "the bird"?

No, but I can take one. Someone give it to us a couple of years ago. They did not know what kind of bird it is either. He don,t talk. But he knows sounds. He can hear any of our cars comming a few minites before it,s gets at the house. And it starts making his sound. You can hear him down the block.

They are very cool birds, amazingly smart. I had a moluccan cockatoo named Hannah for many years (had to sadly give her up when I want on bed rest a few years ago) and she was very smart too, she knew about 20 words and we were working on new ones. My fav was when she said "Hi Hannah, I Ruuuuuvv you!" She was so much fun, but a lot of work, it was like having a perpetual child. I haven't rushed out to get another large bird since then because I don't have the time to devote. I think anyone who has the pleasure in owning any such bird is very privileged.
