Yes, I've also never been a fan of the "Primitive Style" of painting. Grandma Moses...etc..
But that might not be what you're going for, here. If you'd like to know where you need improvement, I'd say pay more attention to your drawing before laying down the paint. Look at your first post. The lines representing the piano are not straight or equally apart. They've been hastily drawn in. Take time with it, like Carl is doing with his Grand Canyon painting.
You can't paint well until you can draw well.
