Sketch to Color

Postby Chevron Lowery » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:00 am

I did this reference sketch a while back and wanted to try coloring it in corel painter. I wanted to try to keep the grittiness of the pencil work in the color and give it this really densely textured feel. Do you guys think it's too much? Should I have toned the colors down? Let me know what you think!

Not at all! You've kept the gritty look (love it)
and the color is contemporary and just right. Thank You, E

Thank you so much echoeveler! I liked the way it turned out, but you never know how something might look or translate in another persons eyes.

No.. Not at all... this is a Just Right, amount of color accents to your already well defined sketch..
You have retained the sketch texture, while applying a virtual wash .. its wonderful!
May your world be painted in the Brightest of colors!

First off I love this! Technically I think it's outstanding. I like art that makes me wonder what is doing on and I could come up with a lot of different stories about what is happening in this picture and all from one image.
