Cape winelands

too much yellow
I would appreciate some help with this painting. The right hand corner: the row of trees between the vineyard and the road - do they need some more/less colour? What changes do you suggest?

Basically I'm suggesting a light source - not sure what time of day this is. Lemme know and we can take it from there. Thank You, E

thanks for trying to help. The light source is from the front but slightly left.

I'm sorry, Annette. I wish I could do more - your telling me where the light should come from doesn't
tell me what time of day it is with this piece. I'd like to help you either pump up color in some places
or keep colors flat in others. E

OK thanks. Maybe time of day is late afternoon. Colours are more intense then. I will try to figure it out.

I agree on the need for light source. I definitely don't think color is your issue. Reading through your conversation above, I get that the light source (per you description is front/left) meaning above and to the left of the viewer. That being said, add hightlights to your trees, that vary in colors... light greens, some yellows, a touch of white.. and perhaps a hint of light blue. And conversly for the undertones... opposite sides of your subjects, add darker tones. deep greens, brown, a touch of navys.. not so much black or gray. Working on the Highs and Lows will really draw life into you peice that I think you are going for. :) Look forward to seeing how you develop it.
May your world be painted in the Brightest of colors!
