Have Not Been Painting Long

This is a forum where you can post your art work and ask what the world thinks. I am looking for general feedback, nothing too technical. A push in the right direction would be appreciated.

Have Not Been Painting Long

Postby gigitygigs » Thu Sep 19, 2013 12:57 pm

I have not been painting for very long and I only have friends and family to give me feedback so obviously that is always positive. I want to know what others think of my work for real

Well your friends and family are not lying. This is a great painting. Love the colors. How long did this take you to paint? You say you haven't been painting much, how often do you paint?

Honestly your colors and placement on canvas(es) are nice.
Do correct the break in your branch line going from one canvas to another (left side)
and avoid making the same branch patterns throughout the tree.
Thank You, E

My favorite part is the how the painting pulls the viewer to the center. Both the canvas setup and strong contrast in colors really help achieve this dynamic force. I just wish we were a little more rewarded when we do get to the center of a painting. Good stuff all the same. Keep painting!

Thanks for the input medved. I haven't been doing this for very long so I am still learning. What would you have done in the middle, just for future work that I do it would be nice to have some suggestions from someone who knows probably way more about art than I do lol.

You are very welcome. Good colors on #2 and #3 has a strong presence but the tree trunk is too straight and stiff.

Well, one thing you could try is building up the texture. Keep the outside panels thin and slowly build up the gesso/paint as you move towards the center. I don't mean anything too drastic. Just some little nuances to keep me entertained.

Nice colour usage. Don't care much for tryptychs personally. Also, your 'realism' is a bit off on your trees.

Keep on creating.

You do great work. I feel someone should be a proud owner of these paintings for certain. Keep at it.

Those are some nice paintings. I really like the one below the baseball painting, which shows a snowed mountain. I think this would make an excellent decorative item for any hunting cabin. Keep on painting. Practice makes perfect! Thanks for sharing your painting with us.

Well... outside of what everyone else says, what do you think? Do you think they are worthy of someone buying them? Or more to the point, would you buy it (thinking objectively) if you saw them in a store? I personally do, and I would. In fact,
I definitely like the tree-works the best..and think for being in a beginner stage, you are doing great. With continual practice, you will find the talent become more refined. Keep it up!
May your world be painted in the Brightest of colors!
