Homo Apis

One of my favourite pieces from last year. I also wrote the poetry to accompany the sculpture.

When the falsetto hum
of the sleek machines
suddenly shuts down,
hands of action reach for purpose,
feeding rust-eaten buckets
with streams of honey.
Feet steady, backs loaded,
the golden army pollinates
the dying fields of greed
with a flow of spring sweetness.

Thank You!!!!! Erika, you've developed a nice texturing with these amazing images.
Add to the litheness of overall 'muscle', her pose and your attention to detail with her high-tops
and what looks to be honeycomb in the buckets. Welcome Back, Dear and I hope you have more!

Wow Erika....love this sculpture. Love the poem too. Hand in hand they go. I have written poetry to accompany my artworks.

Welcome back E number 2!

Thank you, dear old friends, nice to be back, happy to hear you like the sculpture. Nigel, yes, poetry and artwork is a great combination, sometimes poetry inspires the work and sometimes vice versa. Please, post yours if you like, I'd love to read it.

Here we go.. a little poem for you...

A New Dawn

She calls…
A silent whisper of cloud
Drifting across the lake…
Toward the brilliant trees

She calls…
A screaming silence
Heard by the birds and flowers
And the consciousness of slumbers

She calls…
And we all inner hear
The gossamer of her voice
Permeating gently our delicate souls

She calls…
And we arise again
To the uncertainty of the new day
Excitement and fear…
She calls!

Nigel, great poetry, with a sensitivity and sensibility that speaks from the soul to the soul...love it. Somehow I associated the call with Ophelia or the Lady of the Lake rising and communicating with us. You should publish your poetry.

Many thanks for your kind words Erika. I have written well over 200 poems now on all kinds of subjects. Perhaps I should get them published.

Thanks again.
