Hello,

This is an oil painting I'm currently working on. The painting (American Buffalo) is 24" X 30". It's not quite complete. I wanted to get everyone's opinions before I proceed any further. Sorry, there is some glare on the photo because it is still wet. Thanks.

It's very good. I like it as is. The eyes are perfect, and the whole effect very pleasing...except for one issue I'll mention at the last of this post.

Not knowing your intentions, I hesitate to say anything at all, as, it is good as it stands, or could, if going for photo-realism, use a deal of finishing. My only comment negatively is, for my eye, the loop of hide/hair on the left is distracting.

Hi Kelly, it's very nice as it is, but not as unique and outstanding as your deer with the surreal background. If you could adopt that style to a whole series of your works, it would be truly remarkble and unique. Just my two cents, Erika

Well, DL, if ya hadn't said anything I wouldn't have noticed but true,
the loop is distracting. Otherwise a beautiful, sensitive rendering. E

Thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes I stay too true to my reference material and forget about the effect of some details. I have removed the curl of hair and now the viewers eye stays more toward the face/point of interest.

Thanks again.

That's an impressive view and a fine painting. I like for sure.
