Acrylic inspired by Miami friends telling
me about the ever-growing Iguana population.
I want to paint in a Poicianna tree over 'Iggy's'
head and put Fla. foliage all around.
Honestly, I'm having trouble with the boy's hands
and the baby's feet. Still, I'm having fun with it! :D

I love what you are doing with the iguana, how you are starting to add oclor variation. I would love to see really fine detail on the iguana and then more subtkeness in the foreground. Can't wait to see it progress.

I once hade a Green iguana... =)
Is the iguana huge? or is the boy small? or is the boy looking at a hug pic of the iguana?

I love giant ignana in response to the problem. So funny! I also really dig the deails of the beast. I struggle with hands too. Hands are terrible. Not yours, just in general. I can't wait to see more of this! I feel like a dust cloud just rising from the iguna would be awesome.

The Iguana is huge in my mind, about to overpower the
boy which for some reason, is looking more like a girl!
Yes, Amigone - my response is that, not only are the Iguanas
getting out of control, in my mind again, they're getting bigger.
A dust cloud is a great idea but the canvas is so small (8"x10")
and there's so much going on already, I will forego the cloud.
Thanks, guys, for your valued input.

It is coming into being, and will look better when you draw it up finer, and put in the relevant shadows, best done transparently and lightly by glazing. Moreover, the shadows around the body will indicate the lines of the arms and solidity, to a degree. Being acrylic you might be able to work the pencil or a textra for the redrawing. Or painting in and scratching out till it appears correct. I like how you have treated the light interestingly. Colourwise it is hot and needs some cool relief and contrast- possibly blues and greens. The iguana's head needs some perspective indicating a bit more depth. Put it up on a shelf and look at it objectively and critically, asking how do I take it up to the next level? What usually brings an artwork into life more, is a relevant contrast and not an absolute contrast. Which can be contrasting shapes or lines against shapes, colour and temperature. Nature works that way, see how your hands work together even though they are opposites. And your legs, one goes forward and the other backwards to take you forward. Your two eyes are opposites but unify through contrast, as well as your two brains - the conscious and the unconscious. Hope this helps and would be good to see the finished attempt

Thank you, Johncee - am doing the "putting up on a shelf" and I think
I'll have to scratch and re-paint, lol! I appreciate your color/contrast input -
I always have a hard time making things look like they're outside!
I really appreciate your expert advice. E.

My crazy baby painting is put up for a little while. I have a showing at the end of next week that I need to finish up some art for. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten my little princess! In my world, it's halloween everyday :)

Only two paintings yet undone. I do my best work under the press of time. I'll be sure to share with you all :)

It's for the Afrofurtistic Affair Charity Ball. Science fiction, theme, time travel.

Postby ehoeveler » Sat Oct 27, 2012 4:49 pm

But I didn't know how to add to my other post. I've decided to use
Pthalo blue for the sky but am having trouble matching Iguana and leaf
colors to the sky. Oi vey!!
OK, Peeps - where's the Love?
Am I getting these colors right or not?
Thanks, your humble Moderator :)

That kid is about to take that iguana on.

The colors look like they're going in the right direction. The Iquana needs to be more vibrant. They're pretty bright green.

Hi E!
Looks realy good! =)
My only concern whit this one is the boys "butt area".
Hope to see some changes there. I know your not finish whit it, just wanted to point out that in my
opinion it looks to "tight".

All the best

Lol, Ksart-se!!! Yes, I see what you mean but
wouldn't your butt be tight at the sight of a huge
baby-eating Iguana? "Butt", lemme ask this -
do you mean there's too much dark around the
sphincter area? Thanks for your kind comments. E.
