So many black stallions to paint I have two mustangs one stocky and one very long and stately. I will be working on usinf photo references thanks to Bureau Of Land Management free public domain photos. One is so black he is blue, scarred up pretty bad though so I am leaving out some of those scars from him fighting. The under layers will be done in blues and reds and violets layering on burnt umber and then a chromatic black green shade. I will post when I finish him.

Sandra,

I live in Georgia. And thier a lot of hourses around here. But I don,t see them up close. But I like the top picture the best. Thier is a lady here that paints a lot of hourses. Perhaps she will see this post. And will give you some good advice.

The top photo is the finished painting the bottom one is the half way mark or stage one of that same painting. Thanks

I really like the top one and his eyes look
so gentle. Sometimes when I'm not sure
about a look I start Googling images similar
to what I'm doing for visual reference.
