Hammered Copper- Still Life

Will be useing 16oz. copper sheet. ( about the thickness of a dime) Will be the image of a vase of flowers. The size of work will be 12" wide By 36" tall. It will be mounted in a steel frame. 1&1/2" wide. 1/8" thick.

Will use a propane tourch to anneal copper. Soften metal.

After heating copper it takes on differnt colors.

Will use small ball pen hammer and a few small chisels. And flating tool. Also a rubber mat. Will also draw a picture with a black marking pin. The image will appear on the other side of copper when work is done.

I find it very interesting and can see how much skill and work is involved. It looks very complicated.

I will be useing some steel with ramdom rounds and squares and other shaps cut into to them. Wood froms would work just as well. Most of these are just srap pieces of round and square tubing. Also one could use some toy froms found at toy stores. Or just things found aroud the house. soap, wax, play sand. Anything at all. Don,t really have to by anything.

Your work is coming along so very nicely! It is already a beautiful piece!
I love the detail you are accomplishing, looks like alot of fun to do.

Now, with a small carbon ark rod. Will with the welder set on low. Go back and forth over the background of the work. This darkens the copper. And as a consequence some small
un though holes will happen. This ofcourse becomes a part of the work. Will also
un along the edge. So the whole piece will have character.
