The Artist's Father

(Had a hard time taking a photo of this piece and I really think that it is much better in person, but here ya go..)
This was a piece that meant a lot to me because it was the first time I did a portrait of a family member. The only other time I did a piece of someone I cared for was a painting I did of an ex-girlfriend. I really concentrated on this drawing because he is my best bud and I want him to really enjoy the this, however I could draw a stick figure and label it "dad" and he would still say it was the best thing he's ever seen, so I am looking for honest critiques from you. The man had me when he was 64 and is now 83, so the least I could do was draw the guy, right?

This is excellent, and I'm sure your father will cherish it, as will your kids one day. I'll be very surprised if you don't see some "dad tears" when he sees this.

Nice legacy B Sully. Very nice.

Never any doubt!

Never any doubt you'd get that reaction Sully. It made me think of my dad (lost him in '97) and it got a "son tear" from me. I knew your dad would love it as soon as I saw it.

Congrats on the recognition! You are extremely talented and the recognition is well derserved. Good luck!
