A Dream for Peace

Postby Singular » Mon Feb 19, 2007 9:57 am

Hopefully, I will finish this one day. I started this painting over 6 years ago. It was intended to be a painting about the Mideast conflict. Then the attacks on 9/11 happened and the painting took a turn. I wanted to incorporate that as well. I did a few sketches and a lot of thinking. I finally started it. Things were going well and then one thing after another... I haven't touched it in years. I just haven't been able to make the time or get motivated. Hopefully, this year will be the year. Anyway, I wanted to post a few pictures of what I did take during my progress.

By the way, these pictures were taken with a 1 megapixel camera years ago. Sorry for the poor quality.

Joe, are you concerned about being not able to pick up where you left off so many years ago?
Sorry, lack of time is usually an excuse...Whatever is keeping you from picking up the
ush, I hope you'll overcome it, and finish this amazing, beautiful painting.

Thanks Erika,
I am not that concerned with picking up where I left off. I know that once I get back into it, it will be just like I never left. Other priorities have gotten in the way. But things are getting to the point where I can see that I will be able to start spending time on my art again. I can't wait.

talk soon,
Joe

Hey John,
It is 55"x44" and I am using oils. For the wrought iron work, I am using ink and oil. That is the part I anticipate taking a long time. I may have gotten to intricate with the design of it on the top left corner. Now I have to repeat that on the rest of the painting. What was I thinking? haha

Thanks for your support buddy,
Joe

Joe, the intricate design will give a nice frame to the painting and a softness that should add to the overall feeling of the work. So when are you getting started? :)

Very striking, very powerful work. I think the wrought iron work in the upper left will offer a good balance, delicacy contrasting the potent feeling and
illiance. Look forward to seeing you progress.

That really is an amazing painting..and I agree that the amount of time that has passed shouldn't prevent you from continuing on....I happen to also be a writer....there's a novel in the works that I go back to now and then...don't dare ask how long I started it...but just as well I didn't write and complete it ...so many things have happened and the story just wouldn't have made sense had I finished it back then...so like you ..that painting has a new significance and meaning to you...go for it.

Hello Joe,
Today I discovered your WIP and I am so amazed, that I have to tell you about it. It is very emotional painting Joe. Few years ago I have been to NY and went to visit Ground Zero. I will never forget what I have seen.
In your painting I can see already sadness, fear, hope, power, pride, faith...
Wow. Only master can show so many emotions in one painting. You are MASTER Joe! And I would like to ask you if you did some more work on this great piece. In Australia we have Winter now, it must be Summer in States. So, many of us would like to see your finished work this Summer.
Today I went to explore your gallery Joe and must tell you, that my eyes were "swallowing" your paintings with jealousy and greed for your talent. I was trying to choose my favorites paintings of yours but it was impossible. All of them are my favorites. Thank you Joe for sharing your great work in progress with us.
with respect
krysta
