Painting Commenced

Postby nigelartist » Sun Jun 13, 2010 5:31 am

Hi folks. Hope everyone is well.

Just to say I have started working on the background to Cecilia and so far I am very pleased.

It is my intention not to rush this work and have made notes on how to paint this work.

I haven't painted for a while so this should be interesting!

God bless you all.

Painting Update

Postby nigelartist » Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:25 am

Here is initial work on background...

Italian blue (Cecilia is Italian and blue is also a soothing colour) and black in a circular fashion to 'frame' Cecilia's face.

First of all I would like to welcome you back! :D This is just the "initial" work.

I can say the back ground is very well done! blue and black is a good combination. It makes your work to have a "deeper" meaning. Something mysterious.

Cecilia is known to be the "Queen of Agility" . I would like to add she is really Beautiful. She has a beauty that never fails to be noticed.

Thanks for welcoming me back hazelnice. "Initial" should maybe be be final background. I've been tossing and turning mentally as to whether the background needs augmenting or leaving as it is. The main focus, of course, is on Cecilia. maybe I will have changes of mind when I progress of the face of the VERY gorgeous Cecilia. Your opinions hazelnice are gratefully received.

Physical beauty aside she is so expressive physically when she sings and I love her duets with Bryn Terfel.

The next phase is the first layour of skin tone...I feel white with a minimun amount of red then layer accordingly. I really want to try and do justice to this beautiful and talented woman.

Thanks very much for your time hazelnice. I shall endeavour to look at your works now.

Face and Hair Commenced.

Postby nigelartist » Mon Jul 12, 2010 3:41 pm

As you can see the face and hair foundations have commenced.

Not painting for a while was strange to me and I got a bit confused at times (middle aged now ha ha!)

I was thinking of a dark red for her dress. Any other suggestions taken into consideration.

Dark red I have decided on.

Don't like her hair yet but is not dry so may look better when dry.

I am pleased with her skin tone.
