Here's the finished piece, might touch up the eyes once I decide some minor issues come from the photo or not.
She looks a bit different from the wip picture, as I had to rebuild many areas of her face due to shrinkage. But I have to say the finished version looks more like my grandma in spirit, maybe likeness as well.

Hi Erika,

Wonderful workmanship -she's beautiful. She looks like such a warm and kind soul. When I see art like this I get a bit emotional. Thanks for sharing,

Julie

Perhaps matte medium would help slow the drying, shrinking prob . . .I see the photo album in the background. The work is as everyone agrees-awesome! It looks as though it could be carved out of stone-say . . .Marble or dolomite!

WP, please don't tempt me! 8) No space for stone carving. But I might give it a go anyways next spring/summer with a smaller piece. I watched two African stone carvers at work not long ago, and I really want to try carving as a result.

Thanks, Nigel! I entered a juried show with this piece, don't know if it was accepted or not, waiting anxiously for hearing from the gallery.
