Started this a while ago, but got lost. Its just missing something
I cant put my finger(or paint) on. Acrylic on canvas 11x14.
Tips would be helpful. :?

I like this very much, it looks great , wonderful colours. But I also feel it's missing something. To me it's missing some sign of life.

Hi gmoulton,

I agree with Erika. It is very beautiful painting but I also think something is missing in this one. Perhaps splash of water in the distance or even black swans ???? It is really up to you how you make this painting more alive.

verticality...like ,say a "happy little tree" in foreground or something

I quite like it as is. I wouldn't add anything, as it will spoil the serene composition. I would suggest adding depth by giving the mountain behind the clouds a wash or 2. also tone down the strip of land on the horizon by about 4 shades lighter. If you really feel it still needs something after that, maybe some subtle yellow flowers on the front piece of land ( not on stems, don't
eak the nice line) ? Anyway, hope that helps :wink:

hey i would add on the foreground island a tall sihouwette of a tree and maybe a figure underneath it either reading or gazing at the sun, or two lovers with there heads leaning on each other , all about he silouwette. (i cant spell that word)

This painting makes me think of the Hawiian Islands with the volcanic lava hitting the sea. Maybe a palm tree or two?
