Golden Retriever painting

Postby bergina » Mon May 04, 2009 5:34 pm

This is acrylic on masonite that depicts Keltie, our beautiful 5 month old Golden Retriever.
She is a great girl but definitely has some spark as this painting might indicate. Late Fe
uary we were just on the back side of a long walk on the local golf course when she found her favorite toy, a frozen water bottle. I kept calling her as I had to get home but she gave me that “not on your life am I leaving" look. I just had to laugh. But, what a great painting opportunity for me.

Spectacular Al!
Her expression is saying just that...who me...come?
As usual, your work inspires me...such great detail., exceptionally done! Bravo!
Just out of curiousity...have you ever painted a short haired dog...as I would love to see how you accomplish the detail. As you know, I'm painting alot of Great Danes right now...and it would really help me to see your work with an example of short haired dog detail?
I know time is limited...but if you could...send me a PM with an image for me to study? THANKS in advance Al.

Hi Barb, thanks, sent you a RM
Rich, I'm humbled by your comments and not sure how to respond except “ thanks”. Considering the quality of work that you do, it validates all the hard work and stress involved in completing this work.

Thanks Al.

I would have given my eye teeth to see this work as it progressed. I know I can learn alot from "watching" how you accomplished what is such a masterpiece. Heck...I'm even studying the "toy", as the waterbottle is exceptionally done as well.
Keep them coming Al...as I learn from each one! :)

Your work keeps getting better and better.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

Patrick,
You are probably right with the dog art connection. I just hope I can transform this energy to my non dog works. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
John, your improvement comment was greatly appreciated.
Kcrotese, thank you for your response. Believe me , this is no photo and I know that you were just making a reference to the perceived exactness of the work specifically color and detail. Our dogs, past and present, are very important to us as and I have in some medium either painting, stone or wood carvings, created something in their memory but always all in a very personal level. We love this little girl so I just had create something for me that I thought was special.
This did not come easy which makes it even more special for me.
Thanks,
Al

Thanks Linda. My painting will be on hold for some time as I'm having knee replacement surgery later on this month. I thought maybe I could also get my head replaced at the same time but it doesn't look good for this one so just have to live with “me” but, I can dig it. I am now trying to gather some decent land/sea cape resource material for a possible future work. I have nothing other than my dogs that I really want to paint but I just did this so I need the challenge of a new and completely different topic.
I hope you are well Linda and thanks again.

Oh geez Al!! Thats just what you needed...more surgery!!! Hope it all goes well for you. Just wondered how you were doing as I have posted a couple things and you usually have some comments and suggestions but haven't seen you post. So, it was good to see you back again and hope your research and future painting goes well!!!!
