Female pheasant

Postby bergina » Sat Mar 07, 2009 7:29 pm

This is my latest painting which depicts a female pheasant after a heavy snow storm heading towards a safe secure hedge row. In my part of the world she is supposedly protected from being shot by a hunter as she is the key to the next generation. Unfortunately this is not always the reality. However I think this little girl, for the time being will be pretty safe.

Hold on, let me put my coat on. There,s coldness comming from this painting. And I see snow on my desk. You have painted a portriat that draws one right into the work. An early spring snow. Flowers begining there life. And a ness to be built. Soon the trees will be full. flowers all around. Sounds of new life and new beginnings. Your work tells to us this story.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

As I pick my jaw up off the floor.....

Al, you continue to amaze. I have spent considerable hours in the field behind my springer, and this is one of the most real depictions I've seen. If you don't make this into a print for Pheasants Forever, Wild Wings, etc...I WILL! :D

John is right...you captured it! Excellent!

Thanks John,
You are right on with the cool theme as there are a lot of blue cool tones thought out this painting. You have a knack of feeling the mood of what I try to create in my work. Thanks,
Rich,
I had some serious doubts about this work as my resources were really bad but like you , I have spent many years in this similar environment so relying on memory, I just kept on plugging away.
Thank you so much for your so positive comments concerning this work.
As far as being print material, I never even considered this but it’s nice that you think it could be a go. Perhaps somewhere down the road as now I really have no outlet to market prints.

Have to agree with everyone else Al. Great "eye view" and the winter colors chosen sent a chill thru me when I look at this piece. You have that knack for
inging animals to life with that wonderful artistic talent of yours. I can see this making it into print as well some day Al. As most of your pieces, this one also has that level of perfection. Well Done!!!

Missed this somehow, but glad to see it now!
It is exceptional Al...the scene so reminds me of my fav. place far from here. Snow covered Pines, peaceful stillness with just the rustle of the native wildlife.
I study your work alot, as it astounds me your level of knowledge with paint(mixing, color choices, application, etc.) and the techniques you use to achieve yet another masterpiece.
Your choices of subjects, be it in your landscapes or animals...always
ing a smile to my heart.
Well Done!
Barb
