I'm no expert but I like your pallette choice in this . . . You must have pretty good discipline to not "loose control" in a night time rendering such as this. The textures are cool with the layers of clouds varying particularly both vertical and fore and aft . . . I like it! I would have "lost it" if I would have done this.

A
ight lite night. The moon and sea. Everything about this painting is right. One of your better ones.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

I looked at this again and I would like to know whether this came from your imagination or a photo? I really like it! It grows on me . . . It is seemingly simple in its concept and design but really there is this sort of wonderful mood to it. I really like this peice friend! Great job!

THANKYOU KRYSTA AND JOHN...APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO COMMENT.
I SAT DOWN TO PAINT SOMETHING, HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS OTHER THAN I WANTED IT TO BE A NIGHT SCENE.
GIVE THE CANVAS A WASH OF PRUSSIAN BLUE PUT A MOON IN AND IT BASICALLY PAINTED ITSELF FROM THERE ON.
I CAN COUNT ON ONE HAND THE HALF DECENT PAINTINGS THAT I AM HAPPY WITH AND THESE ARE USUALLY PAINTED FROM THE IMAGINATION,NONE OF THEM FROM PHOTAGRAPHS.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS,IT'S GIVEN ME THE CONFIDENCE TO TRUST MY IMAGINATION A BIT MORE RATHER THAN RELY ON REFERENCE PHOTOS.

DEREK.
