Weeping In The Night

Postby Dragondust » Tue Oct 20, 2015 5:25 pm

What Was and Will Be
(trees chopped down at the school)
Beacons of wood,
the public’s good
that line the road to learning

Each on its own
hard to pick out
but together they stand strong

And so they stand
posts of the land
witnesses to growing time

They greet the young
with the bell rung
the fine detail blending in

As much a part
making the heart
of the school as themselves

No greater true
than what will grew
with the fall of the colors

Stirring beauty
of which the key
is the crisp faint red leaves

But from now on
the scene will don
a glow lesser in glory

The summer storm
“Twenty-One-Five”
rattled through the town of Chan

They lost their own
with the wind blown
the tree cracked and bent back

Life, Maple red
all over head
branching in jumbled twist

So this next year
with shiny tear
they will try to carry on

Though they do know
lives come and go
still they wish to prolong

The spared rest
will try their best
for both what was and will be
