I had part of my thesis series displayed in a coffee shop. My parents, mom's friends, my boyfriend & his friends came...

Strangers didn't seem terribly interested. C'est la vie.

Anybody else?
Elizabeth, how was the charity event you participated in recently? Would you like to share your experience?

art show

Postby ehoeveler » Mon Feb 26, 2007 6:58 pm

OK, it was interesting, to say the least. A lot of people backed out.
My Rebel Boy sold, but then so did a piece consisting of a magic-marker
drawing of the words "give peace a chance". To be honest, I didn't see anything innovative or ground-
eaking with the possible exception of my friend Ariminthea Bloodworths' work. She 'does 'Afro-centric' art using wonderful colors.
I am proud of my own piece, but I don't think it will end up in the Whitney, if ya know what I mean.
Always wanting to see the glass half full in any event, I still view the show as a positive because I painted something new in a style new to me. I learned a lot painting the portrait and gained a happy customer who will hopefully spread the word about my work. ehoeveler

Thanks for the insight, Elizabeth. I tell ya, anybody having that boy staring at them every day, they should feel lucky!

Thanks, Elizabeth. I'm afraid I might have reached a dead end in that area. Waterbased clay is the real stuff for me, but unfortunately can't do right now. I'm experimenting ( fighting rather )with airdry clay at the moment.
I love Andrew Goldsworthy's work! too bad some of it it's temporary.
