I did the survey, mainly to spend some time with my morning coffee trying to avoid the news posts. The survey is kind of interesting, but obviously business related having nothing to do with the interests of this site.

I responded to it.

I would have added one more question:

Does anyone find there has been a sudden growth in the number of online art selling venues? If so, what is the reason for that? There are already plenty of these sites.

Good morning Tatiana. My experience with the questions you ask is that no, I have not experienced a sudden growth. What I have experienced is a cycle of websites coming and going. Some last a year, some a little longer. Every site claims to be the best. Every site has some kind of language that promises huge exposure of your work, depending on what payment level you want. And every site has some sort of sophisticated comments that you have to read a few times to understand that the site is legally safe from lawsuits about the claims they make. Of course there are some good sites that have been around awhile. I don't use sites that charge a monthly fee and then charge a commission on a sale. These are just my opinions on this subject. Hope it helps.

Hi Carl, yes I agree about that cycle of websites coming and going.

I had the thought that some of these sites may be little more than vehicles contrived to acquire financing.

Don't get me wrong I love that there are numerous independent companies in the market and that several start-ups a year seem to think there is big opportunity for them to capture a niche. I guess it's mostly just the nature of the market.

Where online has some perks, so too does in-person purchasing? Why Online specifically, Derex?
