I took your suggestions for the clouds etc and added some soft yellow ochre.

I am pleased with the final result.

Many thanks for looking E!

I am really drawn to the texture... gives them expression and emotion.

CarlOwen wrote:Good evening Nigel. I agree with all the comments about the sky. Simple magnificence in the power of the presentation. I also like the green meadow as well as the background trees. Brings back memories of when my wife, kids and I rented a cabin there and rode mules up a canyon trail, etc. At a particular time of the year, an Indian (native American) maiden's face can be clearly seen in the moonlight on Half dome. However, I can see you have never been there. Simply because if you had you would never, never paint Half dome so small. Half dome dominates the valley.

It is my opinion that you are missing a tremendous opportunity by diminishing the presence of Half dome. It looks like an afterthought in an otherwise powerfully executed painting by brush stroke and realistic colorization. On an emotional level, it offends me as I am sure it offends others who either do not care or lack the intestinal fortitude to say anything. I cannot reconcile in my mind artistic license with the for real largeness of Half dome in person. I know you can do better. It is my opinion that it is a pity others are not being truthful to you about not discussing the totally of the painting presentation. I suggest you remove the two giant trees and fill that space with Half dome.

Thnaks for your words Carl. In my defence I have never been to Yosemite so don't really appreciate it as such. My work is also based on an actual photograph and I have tried to represent it as such. I cannot vouch for the comments of other. God bless you and get well soon.
