Wood Horse

Postby jenn_iam » Mon Jan 27, 2014 2:43 pm

In the spirit of the upcoming Chinese New Year - 2014 being the year of the Wood Horse, I created this painting of its namesake.
Image is both chinese lettering characters for Horse and Wood, with the Horse, stylized to resymbol the animal the character represents.

Acrylic on Canvas (Hand painted and air brushed).

Jenn, I like the raised look you've given your symbol but the horse calligraphy looks a lil' messy next to your clean symbol. Thank You, E

The Raised or ghosted symbol is for Wood. (this was air brushed to be translucent and smooth, like sanded wood against the grain of the woven canvas).

The horse symbol is and animal... lively and moving... hair streaming as it runs.. etc.. thus the raw movement and dragged brush effects... this contrast was intentional. I like that you noticed it, thanks for your feedback. :)

I like the Chinese symbolism here. I think its nicely laid out. I think the horse fit well with this type of piece.

A very nice well-thought-out piece. Looks great. I'd like to see this image maybe duplicated and attached to a larger piece.

Maybe onto a non-stylized Hobby horse? Add a little parody. Lol, I don't know, It's for you to decide. Bottom line, it's a cool image and if you can use it again I think you should.

Something 3-dimensional. I was just trying to understand your suggestion.
I follow you... Could be fun for sure.
