Original Comic page 12

Postby mikemontalvo » Mon Nov 18, 2013 6:32 pm

Well I'm 12 pages into my comic and I'm finally getting to the meat of the story. Now the real twist is getting close. Hope you like it.

Wow - pretty entertaining - good image layout and great colors/drawing, as usual.
Thank You, E

Agree with E, only issue I have is that bottom scene. The rendering of space just isn't on par with the rest nor does it have that same dramatic feel to it. Could be it's too structured and not chaotic enough.

One page, obviously out of context doesn't make sense especially so in this sample. Setting that aside I'm not getting the 'flow' . I can see the exuberance and you are having fun
You have a way to go in terms of the art and colouring and text and layout. A good starting point would be to check out the popular and also less popular comic titles and pick a few artists you particularly admire, analyze - compare and contrast. Some of these artists are visual monkey gymnasts. AS you probably know on larger titles separate people are used for inking the pencil work and somebody else the colouring and of course a lettering specialist and I expect the editor has a hand in panel layout - even the front covers often appear to be by another artist again. So yes quite an undertaking to compete with that sort of expertise and fire power, so Kudos to you.

Check out what works for you and steal and improve it. It is only building upon what has gone before. Most art is about stealing from someone before making it your own.

I think you should try the comic art brethren for more pertinent crit.
all the best
