Been working on this one, as hard as it is for me to do.
Lost my dear buddie, Andy, my Airedale Terrier, recently at the age of 18.

I've got to finish the BG, but will put this away for a bit, need to think about how I want to finish it off.
Can't come up with anything, so I thought I'd post for advice on BG. Thanks.
It's my current normal pastel pencils on ampersand board. 8 x 10.

Mike,

Thank you.
I know you said this occurred years ago but I am sorry to hear of your friend, the Airedale's passing. I'm sure his owner must have regretted not being with his dog, when his death occurred.

You are an incredibly tuned in, sensitive person. You are right, this is one of the last images I took of Andy, only days before his death.
Please read more about him here, as I don't want to abuse this forum-
http://asingularcreation.com/Forums/vie ... php?t=5180

I am going to change the BG, and paint him on his fav. pillow. I had thought about doing a scene of clouds, but it just didn't "work" for me...we'll see how this goes.
I've decided on a Title as well...."Coming to Terms", which I had hoped to capture in the painting.
When I took the last pictures I have of my Dear Sweet Buddy, I could see in his eyes, he was coming to terms with the inevitable.
I know this may come across as morbid to a few....but this painting to me reflects how his will to live, his not wanting to relinquish life, and finally the realization he must go.
A huge emptiness remains in my life, this wonderful dog once filled.
He will live in my heart forever.

Very touching and in my opinion not the least bit morbid.
Pain is often the designer of art. My best writing has come
from times of extreme emotional pain....indeed I don't know
if I would have survived without the therepy of writing..
I have not found the ability to express my sorrow or pain in
the visual arts yet but I feel your pain from your art...and that
to me is confirmation that you are an exceptional talent..
We must not run from the pain of living because
the pain is what makes the pleasure of living so very sweet.
Again I am sorry for your loss and I thank you for sharing your
sorrow with us.

Thanks so much Ray.
My art has been therapy for me many times as of late...and I always feel much better after I have put my heart into a painting.
Still haven't finished this one...hopefully tomorrow, thanks so much for viewing and comment!

Thank you artisticsha, much appreciated.

I have finally struggled through this one, and I'm calling it finished. Andy's memorial painting, now titled "Coming To Terms" will now be framed and hung on the wall over the area in my bedroom where he slept.
Thank you all for your kind words and critiques.

He will always be with you. Sometimes you may even feel as if he jumped on the bed or cuttled close to you. You will feel it. Then you will look around and nothing is there. But he is. love always.

I can see you feel the same as I do. I believe when a loved one, passes, their spirit continues to look after you. He is still with me in spirit, no doubt.
