Great or grim?

Postby 5mileSmile » Mon Nov 23, 2009 3:33 pm

I got fed up with attempting to create a 3dimensional illusion through painting so I started doing these paintings in solid form. I personally like them but when I show them to people they appear a bit confused as to what to say...this is actually a finished study for a much larger work. Any honest opinions?

I think it is a great idea and your image looks very interesting. i only wish it was larger. It is difficult to see all of the detail.

all the best,

Thanks for the comments, the image is actually quite a large clear file byt for some reason it's uploaded small and blurred. http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/yourga ... 95001.html You can view larger images here if exterior links are allowed. There are one or two moderately graphic works there as a minor prior warning.

Quite bizarre! I like the anatomy of objcty best.I find your choice of medium very unique as I've not seen it prior to this.Interesting to look upon!I found a hint of what remindede me ,for some reason, the Miyan art style in one of the pieces.I found that to be interesting as well.Sort of a mixture of the past meets present feel to it . . Nice!

I looked at your gallery page, I like Anatomy of Objectivity a lot. All your works make one think, and require repeated viewing. I don't know if I like the other ones or not, they're not easy art, but they're curious and they invite back.

That's really constructive and encouraging, I'm hoping to take it much larger and and maybe a little more challenging but without trying to be contraversial just for the sake of it. I worry some of it is quite ugly but unfortunately that's where my hand seems to take me. I like the Mayan comment,I hadn't thought of that but you're right. Thanks.
