Hello everyone and a new drawing

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted anything for quite awhile, been computerless for a time and very busy now trying to get my art going before I am forced to return to a 40 hour a week job (got laid off and collecting right now) Anyway, for those that remember me, hello and hello to everyone who has joined since I was here last. Thought I would post my latest drawing, finished last Friday and see what the general opinion was This is a charcoal drawing with a bit of white added.

Thanks Riaan and neogenius44 for your comments. That is what makes art so wonderful - it is so personal. Everyone likes and dislikes different things, different styles, different feelings. Personally, I love to do people and animals - young and old. I like to attempt to capture personality, a certain feeling. And although I greatly appreciate a good landscape and sometimes a totally different style of art, its not something I do very often. So there you go..........thats one of the things I like about this forum - hearing other peoples views!!!

Beautiful drawing. His eyes show wisdom, knowledge and a hint of humour. You did a wonderful job on the eyes. I'd like to have a teacher/mentor like him. Is this after a photo? Can you tell more about it?

And Erika In answer to your questions about this drawing -

This gentleman was at the state fair this year in Massachusetts. He was with the other artisans giving demonstrations. I loved his eyes, and the way his glasses were sitting on the end of his nose while I talked to him - so I asked him if he minded if I took some photos to use for reference for a drawing later. When I had moved on and was talking to the carpenter there, I looked up and this gentleman was over at the pottery booth flirting with the lady there. hahaha So that probably explains the little glint of humor in his eyes (and the bowl in his hand)
