My latest. This is my first attempt at a seascape. It's a 12x16 oil on canvas. I wanted to do a small study and get some feedback before doing another on a large canvas. Be honest....I can take it.

ushwork. the colors work together nicely (as photographed). It does feel a little unbalanced as the left side of the painting is uneventfull. I just seems like you're wasting some space there.

overall...a sweet painting....

I've had a long look at your work and your request and read other comments. I do like this work, probably because it’s different than mine. You have had some very accomplished and knowledgeable artists share their thoughts and they were very positive. Good for you and I’m sure well deserved. I would like to give you my take but am hesitant as I don’t want to comment on a style of painting that is not in my repertoire or I know nothing about. I have also painted several marine scenes and have a reasonable understanding of color and composition. Question: Are you trying to portray a realistic scenario or is this something from memory? Are you more concerned with a color statement / impressionistic view as opposed to what one might realistically see based on this marine scene?

Thank you Linda. I never know what I'm going to end up with when I try something new and marine art was a big step for me. I've always struggled a little with water. I'm glad these were recieved so well.

Took the longest time to figure out what was confusing me about this painting. The water color intensity from front to back seems reversed. For me, most strong colors are in the back while the softer version aside from a few warm lines, are in the front. This throws everything else off. Also the water line between the posts and their refledtion are no where near defined enough, creating some of my confusion.
This painting and the painting titled Weymouth Harbor, exceptional as stated in my previous comments seem somewhat different.
No mater how impressionistic your direction is, never underestimate the value of accuracy in anything with the paint
ush.
You have had some great comments by some very competent artists. Maybe you are on your road so keep rocken as this is just my take.
Still really love your work, just pushing your buttons to see what else in in there.

Thanks everyone for all the great feedback on this piece. And thank you Al. I can see what you are getting at. I did make some minor retouches....nothing too drastic. I think it helped. The photo doesn't do this much justice. By the way, you can push all the buttons you want. It only makes me work that much harder to strive for my best. Thanks
