Terrors Grip

Here is my latest sculpture. I call this piece Terrors Grip. This is my attempt to show the effects of terrorism on the world. The world is displayed as a sponge to demonstrate how terrorism affects all parts of the world no matter where it occurs. Like a sponge we all absorb the effects of terror.

Stevem, I like this work very much. I like the colors in the world that devide land from sea. And I like the cocept. It shows a refextion of the times we live in. Also, I like a round stand. The piece can be placed in any position.

I agree. This is very good. Reminds of a painting I started over 5 years ago that I have not finished. I can't wait to be able to work on it again.

I think the sculpture is very well presented as the world is like a sponge after all accepting wave after wave of human assault upon its fragile existence. I would like to see more angles on it if possible..The base is a bit standard in my humble opinion and feel that it can be made more dramatic, perhaps the hand coming out of a shattering tv set, a rugged terrain or the mind of a terrorist kind of entity may truly give it an intense punch...the base for that matter is a personal taste issue. But your work is truly inspired and I love the idea that you are reflecting socio-political issues that artists need to present in their work...keep up the beautiful creative energies!

Hey! This is one of your strongest yet.
Just a suggestion.
If indeed the hand is wringing a sponge,
let the earth sort of drip, ooze onto the stand
and perhaps even flow off that!

It's just an opinion mind you.

It just feels like it's not as dynamic as it could be.

FYI:
Terrorism is Fear!
We would be well advised
not to feed
our fear into it.
Keep in touch with your compassion.
It's important.

Keep at your craft.
You get better with each new sculpted piece.

Thank you all for the kind words and suggestions. It's pretty strange. I often feel compelled to do certain pieces of art without any particular reason. So was the case for this piece. I just had to get it out and voice my opinion. Well I was on my way to Loveland, Colorado the other week and stopped in Kansas for the night. I picked up my copy of Sculptural Pursuit magazine and was flipping through it when I came across this call to artists that wanted a sculptural monument that was an artistic expression of how terrorism effects the world. I about lost my mind. This is the first time I had something done in advance of a calling that fit the requirements. Needless to say I am in the process of submitting. Wish me Luck. When I was creating this piece I had envisioned it as a monument size piece (which I never do) But didn't know how I would ever be able to afford to do something like that. Maybe this is the answer. Once again thanks to everyone for their comments.

You were channeling. This piece needed to be created.

When I paint and I realize I am done.
I feel an amazing detachment.
I realize now it's because God has created the piece.
He just uses me as a facilitator.

All creativity is Divine.

Perhaps that is why it
ings us such Joy, eh!?

I feel good about your work.
It does have more and more compassion and
as long as you are in trust and just let the pieces
flow they will tell a truth that needs to be heard.
